Who We Truly Are Poem

By Pamela Storch

We cannot add to who we are,

A mask brings nothing real,

Applying lots of makeup,

Does not change the way we feel,

We can try on new personas,

Act in different types of ways,

But who is looking back at you,

Inside the mirror’s gaze?

Whatever we acquire,

That is false must be let go,

How can we find our puzzle piece,

When added edges show?

Remove what wasn’t meant for you,

Remove what isn’t yours,

And suddenly the Universe,

Unlocks the open doors.
