The Breaking of the River's Dam Poem

By Pamela Storch

Raging river, forest lush,

With moss of vibrant green,

Atop the rocks upon the banks,

Logs fallen in between,

The densest woodlands all around,

As water rushes through,

Do not ignore the river,

It moves with or without you,

For when the river's dam shall break,

Then stuck you are no more,

It overtakes the thickened land,

And trappings of the shore,

Be ready for the breaking dam,

And on your way you'll be,

To heights you've never been to yet,

Beyond the farthest sea.

Pamela Storch’s The Breaking of the River’s Dam is a dynamic and evocative poem that uses the image of a raging river in a lush forest to symbolize breakthrough and forward motion. As the dam bursts, the trapped becomes free, the blocked becomes flowing.

With rich nature imagery—rushing water, mossy banks, and fallen logs—the poem urges readiness for deep personal transformation. A poetic call to surrender, move with life’s current, and rise to unseen heights beyond familiar shores.
