Boats on a River Midnight Poem
Boats on a River Midnight
Midnight river, royal blue,
A boating channel clear,
Clouds of golden sunlight,
And the greening season near,
For painted are the isles,
Finest strokes of blue and white,
The bridges of the hour,
Chime the timing of the light,
The dawning of the titled rocks,
Set underneath the stone,
Will set now forth at midnight,
To the chiming of the tone,
Release the waters passing through,
A gate will soon arise,
And send forth now the twilight,
Nevermore with closed-off eyes.
