Changing Leaves Upon the Tree

Changing leaves upon the tree,
An everlasting change,
For seasons come and seasons go,
Yet costumes do exchange,

For what is truly changing,
When the ocean's waves appear,
And disappear in silence,
In the scheme of life sincere,

For leaves may change their colors,
And then fall flat to the ground,
And as the forms have vanished,
Does the forest hear the sound?

Though fleeting are the forms life takes,
Immortal is the flow,
And rivers long and truly vast,
Give life to all who row,

For life itself is but a dream,
As consciousness moves on,
The starlit waves of wonder,
Shine as flashes and are gone.
